As the popularity for darts grows in the USA, many dart players and enthusiasts purchase home dart boards like Granboard, Dartslive Home, and VDarts to help them the practice, compete, and save money (in the long run).
I’m sure Christmas inspired a wave of new Granboard owners, but let’s face it, simply using your phone and tablet is so last year. Elevate your game with a killer lineup of accessories. We’re talking must-haves and nice-to-haves that will take your setup from basic to boss. Plus, don’t miss my post on the “Big Red Button” mod for Granboard, a game-changer that I can’t live without. Check it out at this link.

General Accessories
The first thing you absolutely need to get is a Granboard bracket. It’s a game-changer for hanging your board and switching to a steel tip board. The bracket’s got a hole in the middle for the center bull, so you can measure down to the floor and nail that perfect height. Trust me, these things are essential for getting your board hung right and rock-solid stable.
- Grandboard Bracket ($13)
- Oche Tape ($7) – ensures you’re board height and oche are at the right distance. We did a review on this awhile back, check it out! I like using the diagnol measurement to get the distance from center bull to the front of the oche.
- Shot Dart Foam Wedges ($4) – using these is a must for me, keeps the board snug against the wall.
- Power Supply ($14.99) – I use a 5 volt 3.5 amp power supply. If you’re using a Granboard 3S, it’s important to have a power supply that provides enough power for the LED lights.
Lighting
Good lighting makes a difference, it’s one of those things where once you have good lighting you can’t go back to a dim board.
- Target Darts Corona Vision ($99.95) – originally created for steel tip boards, but this light does a great job and makes the Granboard glow. One thing to watch out for is that folks not used to it can easily knock it a bit pulling the darts by hitting the bottom of the light. I kind of wish it wasn’t a full circle (i’ve see pics of folks who do modify and cut out part of the bottom).
- Target Corona Vision Conversion Kit ($22.00) – this allows you to use the Corona Vision light on the Granboard.
Device to run the App
I don’t like using my phone for various reasons. I favor using a dedicated device to run my dartboard. Many folks use Android TV Boxes and there are some popular ones out there.
- NVidia Shield Pro ($199.99) – popular with folks who use Android TV Box with their setup.
- Orange Pi 5b ($147.99) – this is what I use, and I have a post that goes into details about my build with the Orange Pi 5b.
- Air Mouse Remote ($16.99) – must have if you don’t have a touchscreen to work with. It has a keyboard on the backside that is helpful when using the device.
I like going this route because it also allows you to use a USB camera, larger external display/monitor, better audio, and options for other peripherals.
Cameras
Granboard allows you to have two cameras setup. The only requirement for 2 cameras is that one needs to be the Gran Cam. The Gran Cam can be used with any device, the USB cam can only be used with devices that have USB ports such as Android TV Box.
- Granboard Grancam ($60) – I use this cam focused on the dartboard for online play. I understand there’s been a lot of complaints, and I agree the camera could be finicky to get working, but I have a sequence that I go through which works well for me (I’ll post about this in the future).
- Anker PowerConf C200 Webcam ($47) – I used to use a Logitech C920, but found this camera works way better in low light and worked on multiple Android TV Boxes and my Orange Pi 5b. I use this camera to focus on the shooter.
- Flexible Clampable Webcam Stand ($15) – I use this for the Grancam, and it’s a lot cheaper than the official grancam arm. I have a shelf above my dartboard that I clamp to.
Sound
Adding larger speakers and an amplifier enhances the experience, especially when you get that rumbling bass from hitting a double bull. Using an Orange Pi5 or Android TV Box allows you to easily plug into an external amplifier and speakers.
- Kinter K2020A+ Limited Edition Original Tripath TA2020-020 Class-T Hi-Fi Audio Mini Amplifier ($38) – I love this little amplifier, I’ve used it in other projects as well. I use RCA to 3.5m cable adapter. The RCA plugs into the amp, and the 3.5mm goes into my device. I’ve paired this with some bookshelf speakers from my local Goodwill.
- RCA to 3.5mm Cable ($7.99) – a link to a cable I explained above.
- 3.5mm Extension Cable ($9.99) – My amplifier is a little far from my device that runs the app, so I use this extension cable to fill the gap. It plugs directly into my device.
Super Charge your Setup
