Update 01/26/24: Added link to Gran Darts official recommendation to check for 64 bit compatibility.

Earlier today Gran Darts the makers of the popular home dartboard Granboard made an announcement today that they’re ending support for Android 32-bit systems. Personally, I’m not upset at this, it was going to be a matter of time. It also doesn’t affect me since my main setup is 64-bit (and it’s not an android box or tablet, post coming soon on my setup). The announcement of ending 32-bit took the spotlight, but if you read the entire message there were some nuggets dropped that I felt was more noteworthy.

• End of 32-bit Android
• Tournament Services launches with versoin 11 in early March
• Steel Dart Services launches with version 12 in late March

I’m very curious, and have many questions on how tournament services and steel services will work. Could the steel services compete with Dart Connect? Looking forward to March/April to see what it’s all about.

How to figure out if your device is 64-bit or 32-bit

I used the app below, but Gran Darts recently published a post to use “64bit Checker” app available in Play Store. 

You can install an app on the Play store called CPU-Z. The app is small, doesn’t take up much space.

• Launch the app
• Click on the tab labeled “SYSTEM“
• Look at the property named “Kernel Architecture” – if you see a 64 then you know your device is 64-bit, any other value is 32-bit.
