Hello friends, I have another review for the new Eagle Dart Board. I won this board at the 2017 DartsLive Open held in Las Vegas Nevada, Westgate Casino Hotel, by way of a Scavenger Hunt contest sponsored by A-Z Darts. I would like to give a big “Thank you” to A-Z Darts for all their fun contests, raffles, and give away’s! Thank you A-Z Darts!
On to the review….I first would like to say there’s an awesome video review by Jen Mounts, click here. This will be a three part review consisting of the physical Eagle Dartboard, the App, and finally Game play & Online interface.
You can also purchase one of these boards here.
General Board Info and Specs
The retail price for this board is $199.00, its made in China. Its was shipped to my residence well packaged with no signs of damage. The box included the dartboard, 2 sets of darts 16g barrels with flights, shafts and tips, AC adapter and user manual instructions.
The dartboard is square shaped 21inch from top to bottom and side to side. It’s made of plastic material and feels well put together. On the back side of each corner is a rubber feet, and three mounting points for wall mounting, and AA battery compartment.
The user manual has a template where you tape it 2 meters from the floor and drill exactly where the mount screws are suppose to be. You have a choice of using AA batteries or the AC Adapter. It’s noted that the sexy illuminated numbers on the dartboard will only be active when using AC Adapter.
You will need to download the EagleDart App to any smartphone/tablet. The operating system required: iOS8.4 or later versions, Android 4.3 or later versions and built-in Bluetooth 4.0.
Online play is something that this board will be supporting soon. When that comes out, we’ll review their online interface and game play.
The Pros and Cons
Ok, now that we got all general specs out of the way here’s my personal pros and cons about this dartboard.
Pros
The overall build and weight of the dart board feels well put together. The square shape design looks good on the wall.
I really dig the illuminated lights! When playing 01 the number of the target will light up. Also when you’re in the finishing stages of the game, certain lights will remain lit to show you the different out option. Example: Lets say you have 24 left to finish the game, the numbers lit will be 12 (double), and 8 (triple)…it’s a nice visual to have.
The size of the dartboard number’s are big and easy to see. This is great for friends or family who have a hard time seeing where the number targets are located.
The option of AC adapter and battery powered is cool.
Cons
I didn’t like the idea of their wall mount which means it would be a pain to travel or be mobile. Dartboards with mounting brackets make it easy to mount on the wall or pole or bands that can be easily fasten to hotel doors when traveling to big tourney’s and you like that solo focus practice in the comfort or your hotel room. They should really include or at a minimum support a mounting bracket.
The target segments on the board are not replaceable. Once a segment is busted or not registering the score, your pretty much done. Gonna save up for a new board.
Should you get a tip broken in the segment, it would be difficult to remove, there’s a lot of small screws on the back of the board and it just looks like a lot of work to remove the back cover. If I ever get a a broken tip stuck in the board, I’ll do a review on that when I cross that bridge on how to get it out. (if possible).
Conclusion
For now that’s pretty much it, feel free to ask any questions you may have about the physical aspect of the board and I’ll try to answer it.
Also, if you’re interested in picking one up yourself, you can get one at amazon.com.
