Went 2 and out this tournament which is always disappointing, but I felt good about my darts.  In the last few months there has been a change in my mindset about this Saturday night tournament.   When I first started playing it was about winning, which made getting knocked out a tough pill to swallow.  Now losing doesn’t hurt so much, partly because I’ve lost so many tournaments, and because my mindset about the tournament has changed from about winning, to being a place to see if any changes to my practice routine, or tweaks to my darts, shafts, flights, has improved my game or not.

For the past month, I’ve been struggling with slow starts which I’ve attributed to not playing good 01.  My darts live stats showed my 01 game declining, and my cricket game getting better.  I had also changed my entire dart setup using different barrels and far different flights (went from shape to super kite).  I went back to my old faithful barrels, but kept the new super kite flight setup, and that’s worked wonders over the weekend on my 01 game.  It still amazes me how small tweaks in grip and flight can drastically change your game.

So my numbers for the day (I played tons of global after getting knocked out), for 01 shot an average of 99ppr, had several games in the 100’s with a high of 128.5ppr against a global player rated 16 (was lucky enough to win that one).  In cricket averaged 3.9mpr with several games in the 5 mpr range.  Overall happy with my game and ended the night with a rating up!

It’s still early to say, but I’m hoping the switch back to my previous barrels fixes the slow start 01 game issues.
